So are they correct saying they will go extinct in 5 years? Obviously there still will be some in the Gulf as I doubt the US or Mexico will allow that.

They love hyperbole. Yes, bluefin are in serious decline, and extinction is a possibility, especially for mediterranian bluefin because of seining, but 5 years is an absolute worst case scenario, and these trash are obviously liars. There’s no way in hell they can catch enough to cause extinction in 5 years, 50 years is more like it. A boat is small, the Med is huge. We can’t catch them all, or even close.

There is no evidence the BP oil spill had any impact yet, the YOY (young of year) studies are still underway(just getting started, really), saying so is pure conjecture.

I would be more concerened with yellowfin from the BP spill than BFT (bluefin tuna) as the BFT grow very fast and have better reproduction rates.
