Gore is Little Lord Faultenroy - born into privilege and thinks he deserves it.

He was a down-to-earth little kid who never arrogated anything to himself, had only the highest opinions and expectations of others, tried his best to treat other people decently, and used his position, once he assumed it, to help others. In doing so, he showed he was the true son of his long-dead father and worthy to assume the title of Lord Fauntleroy.
