I do agree with your point in principle.

It’s not that easy, though, in this city. Even though Washington is an open carry state, the city itself is decidedly gun-unfriendly. Anybody discharging a firearm in defense of a business will get put through the wringer.

Most people have already left this area, not because we’re afraid but because the protesters are going to seriously muck up the bus routes with their march. Most everyone relies on mass transit here, not that many people drive into the city.

In the end, our principles are all we really have.

And I have a hard time believing that even a Seattle jury would convict a business owner or employee who shot someone who was preparing to throw a firebomb an occupied building. If that’s true then your city is truly lost and you should be making plans to get out as soon as humanly possible.
