Video: Danica Patrick wrecks Sam Hornish Jr. after checkered flag

Danica Patrick wasn't pleased with Sam Hornish Jr. in Saturday's Nationwide Series race at Talladega and made it known by wrecking him after the checkered flag.

In light of what had just happened moments earlier with Eric McClure having to be airlifted to the hospital after a multi-car wreck, her behavior is all the more astonishing. However, neither driver was called to the NASCAR hauler after the incident.

Hornish finished 12th and Patrick 13th in a race won by Joey Logano.

Sam Hornish Jr.:

"... After the race was over, we got right-reared by the 7 car (Danica Patrick). I don't know what she had in her head, but she decided to right-rear us, wreck the car after the race was over. That's really frustrating. It's not the worst day ever, but not what we wanted. I feel like we may have gone a little too early. We got separated and then Brad got wrecked. “

Danica Patrick:

"I don't know what happened. Sam came up to me after the race and apologized, so I'm not sure what was wrong with his car, but he came across the track at the front of the start/finish line."

BTW Mr. mazda, speaking of Mazda, in earlier life, I also spent about 3 year as a test driver for an high end engineering firm, for rotary engine modification testing.

I drove professionally for a better part of 12 years, but got out of that field years ago and went on to other things.

So we’re to take your word on it blowhard? I don’t have to qualify my credentials because I live it. Until you have actually driven in door to door racing competition, all your time of evasive driving techniques are just parking lot wars. I stand on my assertions from years of experience not borne of situational orchestration.

It wasn’t good enough for you that I said what she did was wrong but I can also attest both have had their posteriors lightened in the Oval Office (the one on wheels and not in DC). Whatever problem you have with her is yours alone. I gained respect for her abilities while watching several Indy drivers on practice runs at Homestead making 32 second laps with wheels inside each other and NOBODY flinching.

So take your “professional” evasive position and enjoy it, because nobody else is interested or intimidated enough to give you the credibility you so desire.

Sounds like you approve of government mandated affirmative action. If so, I am curious why you choose to participate in a conservative website like FR

Affirmative action is entirely inconsistent with conservative principles of free economics. If you support AA, please join DU, or post your feelings on the comments section of the New York Times or MSNBC. Perhaps those are better suited to your politics.

In case you failed to notice, three years ago America made the biggest AA hire in history, with disastrous consequences.

The misogyny claim comes from the fact that NASCAR races are filled with examples of guys who retaliate for something the other driver does to them throughout the race, after the race and even in the garage and while being interviewed on TV. You and some others seem to hold Danica to a different standard of conduct when she's done nothing that thousands of other racers have done to each other since racing began.

I am thrilled there is something Danica could have done to meet with your approval. Whew! My day is complete, Kiddo! Have a great evening.

LOL! That would make a fine tagline for him: “I hate Danica!” You know, Ted Bundy hated brunettes, as well. Maybe it was Janet Guthrie or Lynn St. James that set him off...

Apparently, she drives better than the rest of us :-)

Dick Trickle would have been out of luck if you were the one setting standards for driving prowess.

So you’re saying there is a comparison between Morons electing BO and Danica getting a ride? You really are a confused little boy or a stupid old man. Wake up. AA didn’t put BO in office, Little idiots stayed home and didn’t vote for McCain. I guess in “stillonaroll”
world you stood on principle. RON PAUL will not win dip wad. Shut up and vote for BO. Since your vote for RP is a vote for BO

I don’t get on much lately. Where do these turds come from? Are they Ron Paul supporters or Liberals expecting us to get upset over Danica and EEOC. Ron Paul is OK but too many of his supporters would see BO in office

I have no idea where they come from. You present them video evidence of what happened in the race and they do everything to deny it. I guess they’d rather not let facts get in the way of their hate. They’re like liberals that way. And Danica isn’t even my favorite driver; I prefer Tony Stewart.

I am saying that you support affirmative action, which is an anti-conservative, anti-freedom viewpoint. You are entitled to your opinion, but that opinion is not conservative.

Please do not accuse me of supporting Ron Paul, as I never have. In return, I promise not to accuse you of advocating a vote for Romney...oh wait, you have advocated a vote for Romney in this forum.

I did not stay home in 2008. I voted for McCain, but largely because of Palin. Although McCain was a terrible campaigner and often spouted annoyingly liberal rhetoric, his Senate voting record was relatively conservative. Romney, who you support, has a staunchly liberal record of governance.

Obviously we have very different viewpoints about politics and the proper role of government. We will have to agree to disagree.

me too! I couldn’t care less if she has a ride. But if a team and sponsors want her, that aint my business. There is plenty of room in the pack for her. the envy by these twirps is revealing

I’ll just say, GET OVER NASCAR. It isn’t important. The government didn’ get Danica a ride, money did! you must be a 99%’er or confused. Doesn’t matter, I’m bored and supper is ready for me to get off the grill. God Bless you!

Patrick is in Nascar because she took up racing in Go-Carts at age 10, and at age 16, her parents took a huge chance and moved to England so she could race in British NAtional Series events.

She has come up the same way as any other driver in the system, without a money-bags racing name for a father.

Danica Patrick

Danica Sue Patrick (born March 25, 1982) is an American auto racing driver, model and advertising spokeswoman. She is the most successful woman in the history of American open-wheel racing, being the only woman to win in the IndyCar Series as well as holding the highest finish by a woman at the Indianapolis 500 of 3rd place. She competed in the series from 2005 to 2011. She currently competes in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.

Starting in kart racing, she later raced Formula Ford in England before moving back to the US and moving up to IndyCars. Patrick was named the Rookie of the Year for both the 2005 Indianapolis 500 and the 2005 IndyCar Series season. With her win in the 2008 Indy Japan 300, Patrick became the first woman to win an Indy car race. She placed 3rd in the 2009 Indianapolis 500, which was both a personal best for her at the track, and the highest finish by a woman in the event's history. Patrick holds the IRL record for most consecutive races running at the finish. As of October 2, 2011, she has completed 50 consecutive races in the running (the next highest total in the record book is 32).[1]? During her time in IndyCar, Patrick drove for Rahal Letterman Racing from 2005–2006, and Andretti Autosport from 2007-2011.

In 2010, Patrick began racing in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, driving the #7 GoDaddy.com Chevrolet Impala for JR Motorsports part-time. She also has an equity stake in her #7 team.[2] She had her best career finish of 4th in series on March 5, 2011 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway—the best finish by a woman in a NASCAR top-circuit.

Sounds to me like she earned her ride and knows how to race : ),

What I don’t get is when a woman chooses to compete in a man’s world at the same playing level as the men, without any special treatment and earns it the hard way, whether that is in sports or business; some will excoriate her if she shows any weakness or fails to exhibit the same level of male competitiveness and aggressiveness. But on the other hand, if she does, she will be excoriated for doing so.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m no fan of Martha Stewart but she was vilified for being a hardnosed business woman, put in federal prison for doing nothing more or less than a lot of others have done that got a mere slap on the wrist compared to what she got. Yet many hold someone like Donald Trump or Bill Gates or Steve Jobs, real SOB’s in business, as some sort of Gods of Business and held by many in great esteem. Donald Trump is a “tough businessman” and yet Martha Stewart is a “bitch”.

Dale Earnhardt was known as the Intimidator for a reason and it was not because of his gentle nature and unfailingly sportsman like conduct. And didn’t Tony Stewart get into more than a few scrapes on the track and punch someone out after a race? Didn’t he loose a sponsorship and get fined by NASCAR over that? Yet nobody is questioning his ability to drive.

So Danica has a bit of a hot head. Hornish ran her into the wall and she returned the favor. Earnhartdt would have probably done the same thing. Maybe Hornish will not mess with her next time. ; ),
