Sounds like he had no humans in his life who cared.
Poor guy.
Maybe it was his own fault, maybe not. Doesn't matter. As someone said, he was living a life of quiet desperation.

Glad to see the same compassion I feel for someone whose only emotional attachment or feeling that someone/thing cared about him was gone.
