There were also a lot of stories written about the Treyvon Martin shooting and most of it was garbage. I don't believe everything I read without some facts. That is what I would expect the police to do now is to conduct an investigation. I think I will hold off calling for this cop's head until that is done.

Yes, the police do have the privilege of internally investigating an officer before declaring that the investigated officer has been cleared of wrongdoing.
Internal investigations are inherently untrustworthy. Particularly when they are conducted by government agencies.
Are you still waiting for the government to tell you the “Current Truth” or are you willing to believe the eyewitness testimony of those present?

The cops are NEVER held responsible for their jackboot thug actions.
The FBI shot an innocent kid, an Eagle Scout, in the face when he reached for his seat belt to get out when ordered to. Nobody was punished.
