What's the best sailing Song?
Strider44

Posted on 05/15/2012 5:55:16 AM PDT by strider44

The Boards have been heavy lately. Hopefully this can lighten the mood around here. Need helpsettling a family dispute.

What is the better sailing song?

Sloop John B by the Beach Boys

or Southern Cross by Crosby Stills and Nash

(the politics of the bands doesn't matter folks)

or do you have another song? IMHO these 2 are it and its a matter of degree which one is better.

Rubber Duckie, you’re the one,
You make bathtime lots of fun,
Rubber Duckie, I’m awfully fond of you;

(woh woh, bee doh!)

Rubber Duckie, joy of joys,
When I squeeze you, you make noise!
Rubber Duckie, you’re my very best friend, it’s true!

(doo doo doo doooo, doo doo)

CHORUS:
Every day when I
Make my way to the tubby
I find a little fella who’s
Cute and yellow and chubby
[ From: http://www.metrolyrics.com/rubber-duckie-lyrics-sesame-street.html ]

(rub-a-dub-a-dubby!)

Rubber Duckie, you’re so fine
And I’m lucky that you’re mine
Rubber duckie, I’m awfully fond of you.

(repeat chorus)

Rubber Duckie, you’re so fine
And I’m lucky that you’re mine
Rubber duckie, I’m awfully fond of -
Rubber duckie, I’d like a whole pond of -
Rubber duckie I’m awfully fond of you!

(doo doo, be doo.)

Barnacle Bill The Sailor.

Lots of great unpostable lyrics for that one.

Wow. Some good responses but I’m surprised nobody agrees with my two picks. I guess Buffet could be a category all his own...

We visited friends in Duluth MN last Summer and went to the Lake Superior Marine Museum, and also saw an ore carrier go under the lift bridge from Lake Superior into the harbor. This is a place where The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald isn’t just a song, but is very much *real* *life*.

Hey, my daughter-in-law (last of 10 kids) is 100% Irish. The 5 oldest were born in Ireland. That songs implies all Irishman are drunks. Oh, wait most are. Your only 80% right.

My sons name is Patrick Shawn and they call him Patty. If I wanted a girl, I would have had one.

Not my favorite, but “Vahevala” by Loggins and Messina is a great song that needs to be on the thread.
