I can't claim authorship for the "womb to tomb" expression - it's been around for decades.

Nos genuflectitur ad non princeps sed Princeps Pacem!

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

A+++ DNC bailing means that they don’t want to be around when Walker wins...at least I hope so. Good luck.

It was 56 this morning and very quiet in the woods-now there is noise and asphalt smell-the county has sent a crew to fill the holes in the road that appeared after all the rain last week...

The language that Obama uses
Must just be the argot-du jour-
It depends on whether his audience
Is a certain race, female or “poor”

His sympathy is as contrived
As those famous crocodile tears-
Calculated just to prey upon
The worst of each group’s fears

But now the ‘rat plantation
Is suffering gradual losses-
With fed-up residents bolting
And pointedly ignoring the bosses

I don’t think so-everyone is acclimated to different odors. Fortunately, this asphalt is just cold patch-not so strong and goes away quickly-otherwise, I’d be nauseous-I don’t like the smell of asphalt. I think that what some people like about the smell is that some asphalt has a chemical called napthalene (sp?) in it-the same stuff as in some brands of mothballs. I sort of like the smell of para mothballs, though, not the naphthalene ones...

I love the smell of hay and livestock that prevails here in the morning, but that is because I come from a ranch-it makes a lot of the townies I know want to puke-it is all related to what your nose is used to...

Do you like the para or the naphthalene ones? I use the para ones in the closets all the time.

I think humans must be geneticsally predisposed to like the smell of fresh grass-I’ve never heard anyone say they didn’t like it.

I have always said I like the smell that bees have, and my daughter always said I was nuts and bees don’t have a smell. But she e-mailed me last night and said mom you were right-since I’m studying them in close quarters, I realize that bees do have a honey odor.

The newer gasoline odor really assaults the sense of smell, doesn’t it? I wonder what the offensive ingredient is?

i don’t know about mothball types, i haven’t used any myself and don’t know what my parents had, prob whatever the old fashioned ones were. i have never detected a smell of bees. but my decorating theme in the fam room is bees and hives and i have them all over in xs and other forms.

I love the smell of fresh cut grass, but I know I’m allergic to it. Unfair.

In the spring with the wild “onion grass” mixed into the lawn is really good.

I love bees-when I build my next home, I want to use a bee theme in the breakfast nook.

I read someplace that Napoleon supposedly used bees in decoration, too, and called the style imperial bees.

I think the older mothballs were naphthalene, but I’m not totally sure.

I have a lot of that in my yard, and I love the smell.

This guy I used to work for in the late 90’s lived in the country and was an old stoner. He rolled a hootie and smoked it while he used his riding mower to cut the vegetation on his property.

He said one Saturday he was smoking, rocking out to his music while he mowed and not watching where he was going- and ran into a huge patch of wild onions that his wife had been tending-the smell was so strong that he was choking and could barely see. I told him that was a good reason not to get stoned and ride a mower at the same time.
