Is Tim Tebow already winning New York Jets' starting job?

The playful jabs started from five, maybe six, lockers away. New York Jets linebacker Bart Scott began digging into quarterback Tim Tebow, pestering him in a style that sent a jolt of hilarity through those close enough to witness the exchange.

The first round didn't last long -- still long enough for Scott to win with a Baby Jesus reference and a request for a baptism in the cold tub. But a few minutes later, as recounted by a present member of the New York media, Tebow walked past Scott, who was outstretched on the floor of the locker room in a facedown position.

"That's what happens when you get old," Tebow said to the 10-year veteran on Wednesday.

Yes, chalk one up for Tebow. And chalk up this week, which still has yet to include any actual football, as the beginning of Phase Two of the Tebow Takeover in New York. It's happening, people. Without a shadow of a doubt, it's happening.

Vets like Scott and the best player on the team CB Darrelle Revis are praising Tebow's leadership. The Jets do have a staff with Wildcat guru Tony Sparano who can take advantage of Tebow's gifts.

I’m rooting for him. I might be a little biased though.

I think Denver blew it by trading Tebow. Manning will not be there long, and the opportunity for Tebow to learn from him would have been great. Tebow will be a franchise QB in the NFL. The kid has been counted out and ridculed where ever he’s been, but in the end all this kid does is win football games.

There's a lot of disinformation going on in NY, apparently.

Heard a news story on the radio recently that said Tebow had been assigned to "special teams" (that's where they put rookies and players they don't know what to do with).

As I said, could be BS...

I'm not a Jets fan, so they can lose with Sanchez another year for all I care, but I'll be upset if NY ruins Tebow.

Let’s face it. Tebow was traded purely for reasons of religious prejudice in the Bronco’s head office.

I never knew Elway except as the media portrays any athlete. My sense now is that he’s a religious bigot.
