I hate House with every fibre of my being.
That being said, I watch nearly every show.
I’m glad it’s coming to an end and I’m glad they knew ahead of time so they could End it.
I hate when they just suddenly cancel a show with no warning and don’t give them a chance to tie it up.
I watched Unforgettable.
It was an okay show, but they decided to make the heroine a strange, not very likeable gal.
Love Justified !!! Love Raylan Gibbons.
Bones still retains some interest but next season should be it’s last. Castle ... don’t like the lady cop but the show is mildly entertaining.

The Good Wife is an awful name but publicity and a really good show helped overcome it.

I now work here in L.A. but i interned for Chris Carter’s canadian affiliate company when he was shooting the X FILES in Vancouver. My cousin worked on Tron 2 and Kick Ass.
The answer is..tax deductions and a film infrastructure that’s ready 24/7. The Vancouver Film Board pretty much show a spreadsheet on the savings to studio execs and producers. The irony is Vancouver is a really small city but it can really double as San Fran without any cosmetic fakery.
Yeah. LOST sucked me in for 3 seasons but pretty much had it after they left the island and now want to go back? Seriously. You spent 3 seasons trying to get out of the island. The only good part about Abrams, even though he is a raving liberal Dem is that he brought the stars of Star Trek (2009) to Iraq to visit the troops as he was the director..

I figured once Booth did the damsel, there were going to be a lot more opportunities for the incidental comedy, like stepmom Bones at a Parker parent-teacher meeting, Bones den mothering Parker’s Cub Scout pack, that kind of thing. And it would have been an excellent vehicle to humanize Bones.
What I got was Booth, the religious Catholic, not only not marrying her, bu acting like he could care less, Parker gone for all but one episode, and Bones s socially obtuse as ever. I’m hoping next season they straighten it out, ‘cause Booth/ Bones in the ‘Burbs has potential.
Castle has come on strong for me over the last two seasons, and I thought the season finale was one of the best acted series season wraps I’ve seen in a long time. It will interesting to see where they take it next year.
Grimm, to me, is a hoot. If nothing else, a vegetarian, yoga praticing, pilates exercising werewolf who plays the cello, fixes clocks for a living and drives a VW is one of the best ideas on TV I’ve ever seen.
And Justified is the best thing on TV [ahead of White Collar] period!

Grimm is just plain fun. As far as I can tell there are no real world politics (but lots of woo-woo politics!) in it and very little if any liberal morality preaching.

Personally, I despise Rap music...And if I see a thread referencing R Kelly and all the good he has done or not done for children's welfare in banging out that freakin' obnoxious Rap music I hate so much, I generally tend to skip that thread.
I say Generally because sometimes I do click on threads that go against my norms...
Yet honestly, once I read that thread I do not post my opinion. If I did, I am just going to be a curmudgeon. I already know how most like minded people think.
I "Live and let live" when it comes to other's lifestyles and opinions when that opinion matters absolutely ZERO to me. I have no need to appear to be "Holier Than Thou"...I just need to be ME.
Television, with all of its evil has been an incredible benefit to the majority of "we" folks. Not only a benefit, but a form of much needed entertainment. You are the minority...please consider remaining the "silent" of those, please. Enjoy your uniqueness. You are special among millions of folks, but certainly not the norm.
I, however, will be honored to come help you split logs for your cabin and bring salt for tanning hides. But please, sir, click on other threads where you can ad positively.
I think a large part of what is wrong with America today is cause by people that watch liberal programming on commercial television.
I certainly don't mind being part of a minority that refuses to watch liberal drivel on television.

There were only 8 episodes of The River in the series. They found Emmett Cole in the second from the last episode. The season ended with them trying to find their way out, but because the terrain was changing on them, they felt the spirits of the place didn't want them to leave. Wikipedia reports that Netflix is in talks with ABC studios about possibly continuing the program on live streaming. Netflix had been in talks with Fox as well to continue Terra Nova, but that never panned out, which is what may also happen with The River. I would have much rather had them continue Terra Nova via live-streaming, or even Alcatraz rather than The River.
We figured it had to do with tax incentives/landscape in some way.
Since so many people in media and the arts are statists, Abrams’ politics are no surprise. We do think he has talent, the Lost ending aside. I’m sure the troops loved the Star Trek visit, but, of course, it was also great PR on all fronts.
I like the series format and love science fiction. When it is good, I want it to last forever. JJ can get me to tune in each week, or, in our present entertainment format, to wait anxiously for the next disk or stay up late streaming just one more episode. But, it is pretty obvious how difficult it is to sustain an ensemble involved in a complex plot. I always know a series is ending when it first takes a really weird twist and then characters begin to die or otherwise vanish. If they die and are later resurrected, I always wonder if the writers were first convinced the series was over, then told they had to keep it going another season. It has to be difficult to continue a series five or six seasons and sustaining the energy, let alone the plot.
On the other hand, it is disappointing when something like Jericho or Firefly or The Event are cancelled so soon. If they can do movie sequels forever, why can’t they resurrect series with a fan following? What is the difference in the business calculations between film and TV?
Sometimes we watch a series because we have been hooked in by the plot device, but it can be really annoying when that is used by the writers/director/suits to give us a dose of propaganda, usually a put down of people like ourselves or a poster of zerO or some throwaway “we’re all in on it” line demeaning Sarah Palin. It is, actually, why we stopped watching Discovery and History: at exactly 56 minutes to the hour, they felt obliged to add their political take of the day, always progressive and usually in support of AGW.
At some point, we realized we couldn’t watch the drivel any longer and we dropped satellite TV. By that time, it had also been over 4 years since we had watched any alphabet channels, so there was a slew of series we had missed. Those series and the movies we also stopped supporting, due mostly to economics, the discomfort of the big screen theaters, as well as political issues, have now become our entertainment. We also read and, obviously, spend time online.
I think that if the networks and the producers had any respect for the audience and understood why someone like Johnny, who is certainly not an isolated instance of progressive entertainment fatigue, the quality of film/video would improve. Markets should be grown, not shrunk. If entertainment were truly *democratized*, there would be thoughtful, engaging, clever and well-produced fare for conservatives. Instead, they insult us with Swamp People and Storage Wars....both of which I recall viewing for under 5 minutes, once. OTOH, through Netflix, I have discovered Brit, South African and Aussie production and much of it is quite good and way less obviously political, to boot. That, IMO, is real democratization.
None of us are required to participate in our own abuse. Even a movie buff or a series junkie can simply stop watching and millions do so every day. It isn’t out of line for those who have stopped watching to tell others why they did so. As you discovered, Johnny has interesting things to contribute to many threads. I see no reason for him or anyone else to *stifle* just because they post against the grain on a particular thread. Shutting up opposing views is a very progressive tactic. If all you want is an Amen chorus, FR must certainly be a challenging forum for you.
