Cataract surgery at 7:45 this morning, I've put it off as long as I can. They will work on my right eye today.

I stumbled in here back in July of 2003, it’s been family ever since.
Don't know if this applies to you with other conditions in addition to the lens implants, but if you are still needing glasses with a new Rx each year, you might look into accommodating lenses. Since they adjust with variable focus, you shouldn't need new glasses and maybe not even reading glasses.

Are you talking contacts lens? I’ve never heard of accommodating lenses.
I have OA + OP in my right hand and can’t take contacts out and I do truly need a multi-focal. I just get the UV protection as transitions or glare coating knock several points off my vision.
The first cataract implant while done right was to weak and has done nothing but burn constantly since it was put in. I’ve seen several eye doc including a retina specialist, who says I have retina’s to die for. But not even he could explain why the left eye burns, it is not dry. And since it has been in that long they will not remove it for fear of doing more damage. This new lens for the right eye never gives me any trouble after the film was burned off.
I wore contacts for years until I needed a bifocal, and now need all three. At this point I cannot even see to thread a embroidery needle with 1 thread in bright light, and they are designed to take 6 strands of thread.
I have the computer screen enlarged 3-4 times depending on the page I’m on even with correct glasses.
Truth, I am a realist, I know I am slowly going blind and there is not a thing that can be done for it. I have lost half my eye sight in the past 12 years. And yes I do take a lot of eye friendly vits.

Astigmatism is my big issue, and if you look into Fibromyalgia, slow loss of vision is one of it’s side effects. You have to really dig deep into the FMS stuff to find out what doctors should have common knowledge of in today’s medical science. With glasses they can get me to 20/25, good, but lacking clarity.
A year ago I could look across the bedroom and see the clock and squint and read the time. Today I cannot even tell there the same clock is there...just some blurred red smudge that passes for numbers.
You forget Medicare and Tricare Life control what we get. And it is very plain jane mono vision. With the cheapest procedure done.
But even the right eye which was done 11 years later is better than the left any day of the week. FMS is the main issue as it continues to destroy the muscles in your body.
MRI’s of the brain with and without FMS look totally different as it progresses.
And I had one of the best eye surgeons in Memphis do this last one, and he said to touch the left could leave me blind in that eye even faster. So they correct what they can with glasses, which is why I buy the best Zeis, not the box store crap most people can get away with. My eye docs have been good at diagnosis, but they usually do not get the refraction right.
