They say records don’t matter in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. All that matters is having a “hot” goaltender and this year’s cup finals seems to prove that. If Gretzky were still with the Kings, I’d probably root for him but instead I’m rooting for 40-year-old Martin Broduer. To have those sort of reflexes at that age is truly remarkable.

Note that all games are also on CBC, for those living in border areas that can pick up the over-the-air signal.

BOTH teams have hot goalies, and the Kings have a pretty impressive road-win record these playoffs!

But the Devils also have lots of playoff experience. Lets hope for a good series.

Kings play much tougher game and offense crowds goalie better. Neither are my favorites but I say Kings to go.

Go Kings! Go Scuds (Scuderi) Pens fans miss you. Also Quick has been steller in goal all season. I like his style better than Broduer plus he’s American.

Many thanks for the pings,airborne.

As a die-hard Bruins fan, I am completely neutral on this Stanley Cup final — I will be simultaneously chanting "Beat L.A.!" and "Beat N.J.!" (LOL.)

This series will come down to whether the Kings' incredible road win streak can continue.

Kings of the road, another win, up two games to zip. Ten in a row to tie a NHL record for most road wins in a single postseason.

The Kings are a bigger team than Jersey. It really showed last night. I thought the Devils looked exhausted in the last few minutes even after the last line change. I don’t even think the Kings are playing as well as they did in earlier series. This looks like a sweep, hope I’m wrong.

You nailed it. The Kings manhandled the Devils all night long - it sure is looking like a sweep. During Gretzky's interview he passed on advice from Gordie Howe to “shoot the puck” which the Kings took to heart tonight.

It sure is quiet in here. Where are all the LA and NJ hockey fans?

After tonight's 4-0 whitewashing, Jonathan Quick certainly has my vote for MVP.

The Kings certainly appear quite capable of sweeping the Devils.

I watched it on DVR. The Kings are rolling. There aren’t many hockey fans in SoCal so I hope they’re taking this team to heart. There was a story about the players getting recognized out in public which is something new for them. Angelinos are finding out the Stanley Cup is really really cool.

Jonathan Quick for Conn Smyth!

Hate to say this, but this would have been a more competitive series if it was Kings against the Rangers. I think this series demonstrates that the Rangers, with Dubinsky back in the lineup should have played a more open game against the Devils.

Live and learn.

Kings in 5 looks like the right call. Too bad for the LA fans that they couldn’t celebrate a sweep for the cup at home.

Sorry, guys. I think it's been quiet here because a lot of us have been posting on fan sites for the two teams. I just went through my recent FR posting history and realized I've hardly spent any time here since the NHL playoffs started.

These Devils are making it interesting, aren't they? They can still play loose because nobody thought it would be 3-2 after the Kings went up 3-0, and I think the Kings are going to be under tremendous pressure back home for Game 6 tomorrow night.

So far, the first period of Game 6 has been all Los Angeles.

3-0, Kings, as the first period winds down.

I like reading the fan forums, keep posting.
Five minute major was the right call. NHL officiating stinks in general and in this series but kudos for getting this one right.
3-0 Kings should be enough. I don’t foresee Quick faltering now.

Go Kings!

The Devils only have five shots on goal. At this point, they need to generate some offense before they would even consider replacing Martin Brodeur.

Of course, if the Devils keep self-destructing with these penalties, it won't make a difference who is in the nets for them.

Ouch … it is not the Devils' night.

Gionta gets accidentally hammered by a cleared puck after another Devil gets a misconduct.

However, the referees bungle an icing call (is it, or isn't it?) and New Jersey gets a pseudo-gift goal to snap Jonathan Quick's shutout.

The second period ends with the score Los Angeles 4, New Jersey 1.

Yep. An empty net goal and a wrist shot from the blue line that Martin Brodeur never saw makes it 6-1, Kings.

Turn out the lights; start partying, Los Angeles.
