Texas Rangers have joined the investigation into the shooting of two teenage girls at a South Texas park last weekend that left one of the young women dead and the other severely injured, a state public safety spokesman said Tuesday.
Portland Police had asked the Texas Rangers for help, kiiitv.com reported, and Rangers were at the park on Tuesday looking for clues near where the pair was found.
"The Texas Rangers are assisting in the Portland investigation. We offered our assistance and they accepted and we have been actively involved in the investigation since Sunday," Tom Vinger, spokesman for Texas Department of Public Safety, wrote to msnbc.com in an email.

And while they weren't extremely overt about the relationship, their pride in that bond have caught the attention of someone who didn t like it: last Friday, both girls were shot in the head at close range. They were found 8 hours after the shooting.
More. Much, much more.....

Hmm. A local crime is garnering national attention. Gee. I wonder why?

I think the Rangers have a good chance. They’re leading AL West with 46-29 (.613).
Oh wait...sorry...

“Taking a wild guess. Murder failed suicide.”
...in which case it will immediately disappear from the news because rather than feed into a false hate crime narrative, it would suddenly become yet another instance of gay on gay violence (which we aren't allowed to mention because facts are such inconvenient things!)

If the couple had been normal—maybe one local story would have been adequate.

Taking a wild guess. Murder failed suicide. Unlikely: "Wright said police had recovered a bullet casing from a large-caliber gun at the scene, leading investigators to believe the shootings occurred where the pair was found, but they havent found the weapon."
Someone who has shot themself in the head (and badly enough to be in critical condition) probably isn't in a state to hide the gun where the police can't find it.
To: Neoliberalnot
If the couple had been normalmaybe one local story would have been adequate. Nah. A couple of teenagers shot in a park? That'd be big local news almost anywhere. Maybe even a national story or two (if the wires picked up the local stories). Certainly not as much attention as this has gotten, but certainly more than "one local story."
To: Responsibility2nd
That’s to bad. Cute girls and I’m sure they are missed by their parents and family.
Hope they catch the perpetrators and deal with them severely.
