“”Governor Mitt Romney, who touts his conservative credentials to out-of-state Republicans, has passed over GOP lawyers for three-quarters of the 36 judicial vacancies he has faced, instead tapping registered Democrats or independents “

Let me be the first to say, “Duh!” It’s Massachusetts. The Governor’s council is 7/8 Democrats and the legislature is 80% Democrats. The fact that Romney got about 25% Republican judges through the process is an indicator of success, not failure.

Do you really think that Kazan doesn't realize that the "analysis" in his post is incomplete and misleading?

I don't.

What about the passed over part of this didn't you understand?

“Governor Mitt Romney, who touts his conservative credentials to out-of-state Republicans, has passed over GOP lawyers for three-quarters of the 36 judicial vacancies he has faced, instead tapping registered Democrats or independents including two gay lawyers who have supported expanded same-sex rights, a Globe review of the nominations has found.” (Raphael Lewis, “Romney Jurist Picks Not Tilted To GOP,” The Boston Globe, 7/25/05)

In other words, he DID have a choice and chose to put Democrats on the courts.

The fact is that Romney had 100% control over who was nominated. He refused to even nominate moderate judges.

Tell us how things are going to be any different if Democrats control the Senate or if they threaten to filibuster. Romney doesn't have conviction or courage to fight for conservative nominees. He won't even waste political capital trying.
