MONTPELIER, Vt. - Working in a stout former bank building with windows closed and air conditioners humming, Orleans County sheriff's deputies didn't know what was happening in their parking lot until a neighbour called 911.
A man on a big farm tractor, angry about his recent arrest for resisting arrest and marijuana possession, was rolling across their vehicles five marked cruisers, one unmarked car and a transport van.
By the time they ran outside, the tractor was down the driveway and out onto the road. With their vehicles crushed, "We had nothing to pursue him with," said Chief Deputy Philip Brooks.
Thursday afternoon's incident ended when city police in Newport, the county seat of the northern Vermont county, caught up with Roger Pion, 34, a short distance away. No one was injured. At least two deputies had gone inside a few moments before after washing their vehicles, officials said.
...
Not only were their roofs and hoods caved in, but "the radios are ruined, the radar detectors, the cages in the cars ... We're going to have to get the jaws of life up here to pry the trunks open and see about the rifles and shotguns," Martin said.

Insurance, while helpful, just dispenses the cost onto the backs of a larger group of people, although at a smaller rate.
Destruction of property, and theft of property, impoverishes us more than fiat money (that’s a note to the Ron Paul supporters defending their loco weed and right to idiotize themselves on this thread). I disapprove of fiat money, too, but to cheer this as some sort of great liberation activity is. . . stupid.
Sure, shiny cars are tempting. But to actually follow through with is contemptible. Also please note the reduced police presence/availability as they wait for those cars to be replaced. If I heard a noise in my basement in Montpelier in the next few weeks, I can’t tell you how grateful I’d be for the extra half hour wait due to Pot-head losing his temper.
Yes, I know, I could probably shoot the intruder myself, but I would sure like the police backup if Mr. Pot-head doesn’t mind. Life is not a video game.
“At $300,000, thats $43,000 per cruiser,”
do consider all the special equipment they got in there; it’s not just a regular car.
And no, the taxpayers did not get what they deserve, unless they are all potheads who deliberately lower their inhibitions and increase their stupid like the jerk who destroyed hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of perfectly good cars and equipment because he lost his stoned temper.
“I thought arresting dopeheads was supposed to make it safer for all of us.”
It would, if we’d actually keep them in jail, where they could keep their antisocial behavior more to themselves.
Roger Pion, of MONTPELIER, Vt. hey?
Guess I have a new hero.
Good job Mr. Pion good job.
Just an Obama plant trying to increase GM sales.
‘I still think the police department should file a claim with their insurance company.”
Well of course, I am just pointing out this is not a harmless or victimless crime.
Also when did I state this was a harmless or victimless crime?
Cops sequestered in their air-conditioned, sound proof vault, unaware of the crime being committed against them in their own parking lot...
The police should have notified the Air National Guard and called in an A10 Warthog strike on the tractor.
What if instead he’d broken into the PD at night, pointed guns at their heads, shot all the dogs, then just LEFT A NOTE after getting the address wrong...?
Imagine that, you know...?
Look at what happens when they are let out on bail.

Hilarious.
The only source I found quickly (this discussion only warrants moments of research) was that in 2008 there were over 800,000 arrests for reefer (http://forum.prisonplanet.com/index.php?topic=160799.0 and no I will not vouch for or defend the numbers, but they don’t seem out of whack).
I think if this behavior was the norm for potheads we’d be hearing a lot more about it. Think about it, if there are 800,000 arrests for pot in a given year, how many more are actually smoking it?
I can never figure out from reading FR whether potheads are dangerously violent individuals suffering from bipolar disorder or Dorito eating dullards living in their parent’s basement.
