You have my prayers, but I have one question — who declared that your grandfather is a DNR? I thought that was up to the family? I’d remind the physicians of their Hippocratic oath.

The grandfather himself or a medical power of attorney could have signed a DNR form. This requires an appropriately filled out state sponsored form (each state usually has its own form) that is co-signed by a physician.
