I know a lot about officiating sports, and the ref in this match was horrible.

Even though McLeod was verbally warned at half time, the next step should have been a yellow card. That would have made the point that the ref was serious. Going straight from a verbal warning to awarding an indirect free kick is inexcusable.

The ref also allowed way too much rough play throughout the match.

The goalie holding onto the ball more than the allotted time is technically a handball in the box ... ref could have awarded a penalty shot instead of an indirect.

If a ref takes the time to warn you about the 6 second rule, you need to take it very seriously as you understand that they will be watching and the cost of that call is just too great. If you have a zealous ref, there’s nothing you can do but patronize them. If you challenge them too much - they’ll feel you were asking for it. After having been warned the GK clearly did not demonstrate to the ref that she ‘got it’ something you want to do especially when you think the ref may be a bit of a pisser. Her biggest problem is that the ref surely noticed she took her time getting to her feet, and then walked to the top of the box ( jogging would have been a bit smarter after the warning), and then paused to signal to her teammates to move further up field...I’m sure that pause and signal was the trigger for that ref.
