Is the War on Football Because Women Can't or Don't Play the Sport? (Vanity)
8-9-2012 | Myself

Women play all other competitive sports, golf, basketball, soccer, softball, but have not been able to break into the football world. It is, by all measures, a man's sport, and this may be driving the left crazy. This cannot be allowed by their reasoning.

Could this be the drive behind trying to ban the sport or to sissy-fy it? I think so, IMHO.

Probably involves a few kicks to the head, perhaps. :)

BINGO!! Watch some of the 60 yard TDs of Victor Cruz or Hakeem Nicks last year. They bounce off Dbacks who try to hit them, not tackle. In years past those plays are first downs not TDs. ESPN & NFL have celebrated violent collisions over fundamentals. If a defensive player wants to get on the hilight films he doesn’t tackle, he looks to create a violent shoulder collision which all to often involves heads.

Aw geez. So if you don’t want to get hurt, don’t freaking play.

See? Wasn’t that easy?

It will be just as easy once the injury lawsuits start rolling in.

Enjoy your $200 ticket and $50/glass beer.

This is absurd.

It is because a group of socialist owners (and yes they are socialists, see how they take from rich owners and give to poor owners, see how the NFL “punished” the Washington Redskins for “violating the spirit of the cap and competitive balance” and see how the owners blackmail taxpayers for billions in subsidies) are afraid of law suits from former players who were never educated on the seriousness of concussions.

Most people who have actually played football (as I have)know that waking up the day after a game is damn well impossible. The players, who have made billions in dollars and equity for the owners are now suing because concussion education was not there a generation ago and you see the life span of these men being in the 50s, as opposed to being in the 70s as the average American male.

Consider that fact, if you play in the NFL you are more likely to die in your 50s or early 60s. You are literally cutting a decade off your life.

The NFL will need to change (most likely with weight limits by position in the future) in order to survive. Who would be dumb enough to let their sons play when the potential consequences are immense

...Football isn’t entirely American, it’s evolved on from rugby.

And this isn’t the first time people have worried about the safety of the game. Hell, Teddy Roosevelt had to step in to keep Congress from banning it after college kids kept dying.

And a WAR on football? Jeez. The biggest televised event of the year is a football game. The industry rakes in billions of dollars a year. Hockey would kill somebody if it would get them the same “war.”

its easy to fix football, take away the helmets, pads and the forward pass like it used to be. make the players play both sides of the ball with no stoppages and add another 20 minutes of play.

So do we need to eliminate women's handball as well? I call it women's rugby.

You have a point about taxpayer subsidies, but a salary cap and agreed-upon revenue sharing are not "socialist." The owners decided that ensuring some level of parity would enable them to put a more competitive (and thus marketable) product on the field, which would benefit the league as a whole, and the teams individually. How is that socialist?

I prefer to watch women playing football. Haven't you seen the game? It's great they run around in all that football gear but in all that frilly stuff.
But then again, I'm a male chauvinist and I know it.

They've almost made it too pansy-assed now. If they go much further they won't have to worry about lawsuits because nobody will watch.

Yes, real football would leave men dead by the time they were forty, instead of 50-60.

Pansy-assed indeed!

So? Even if this were true nobody is forcing them to play football. Let them become accountants.

Why is Manning still playing?

Its the definition of socialism (and this is coming from a HUGE Washington Redskins fan)

The Redskins, Cowboys, Eagles, Patriots, Jets, Giants, Texans subsidize small market poor teams such as the Jaguars, Vikings, Bengals, Packers, Chiefs, and all the other small market teams.

The rich teams are required by the collective bargaining agreement to spread the wealth to the rest of the poor teams, and are constrained by the salary cap, and the bogus concept of “competitive balance” in how much they are allowed to spend.

The most recent CBA battle came because the owners opted out of the old deal, which allowed rich owners to spend more, and was a battle to take money back from the players.

The NFL is the definition of a socialist entity, which is fine, its a private organization and they can do whatever they want, but lets not think it operates in a capitalistic manner like the MLB does

Quarterbacks use their heads to think, not knock down players.

That might be a clue. :)
