I don’t know about that.
There was a massive spending increase under Reagan, both military and domestic.
The federal government grew in size.
The national debt tripled in size.
Reagan also gave amnesty to 3 million illegal aliens in 1986.
Reagan believed they were too full of pork and vetoed them.
They over rode his vetoes.
You might want to not leave that part out, if you bring up the Reagan budgets and want people on free republic not to justifiably ridicule you.
Because we will. That is the proper thing to do.
The amnesty thing is a legitimate bust, as was his blunder in Lebanon where under his direction the Israelis were held back by American troupes from taking out Muslims who broke the truce and were firing from a supposedly neutral zone.
Not a perfect president, but by far the best of my lifetime.
Military spending broke the Soviet Union’s economic neck. Whatever the domestic spending was on or about we prospered into the Clinton years as a result. As for immigration, yes - that was a catastrophe. They lied to him and he believed it. His worst error was his VP selection. That led directly to the point we are at today, Rockefeller resurgence.
