The national debt tripled under Ronald Reagan.

So President Bush is responsible for a trillion dollars of wasted stimulus spending during 2009, while he was sitting in his Texas home?

Darn, I thought he was working on his book...

Following your logic, he might as well be responsible for 2012 spending too.

According to Obama, it's still Bush's fault. And Swishy-Pants Albright is saying it's Dubya's fault "forever".

The GOP has not been fiscally responsible.

Its not misleading. Its crystal clear. Obama’s website lays it out rather clearly:

http://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/budget/Historicals

The first spreadsheet summarizes budget positions from the beginning of the nation.

In 2007, the deficit is 160 billion dollars. For the last two Obama budgets, the deficit has been:

10 times larger— more than 1 trillion dollars each year

Also keep in mind the following facts about the recent budget process:

Obama’s last two budgets have garnered exactly ZERO votes in Congress
The Ryan budgets which are demonized have garnered dozens of votes from both sides
The Democratic Senate has failed to pass a budget or compose a budget for the past three years. Harry Reid says it is not a reasonable expectation— which is outrageous.

Also keep in mind, that the Auto bailout that is the centerpiece of Obama’s alleged successes was passed and signed by Bush.

So we have to give Obama all the credit for car bailouts and Bush all the budget blame.

Also keep in mind that the Bush bailouts had payback provisions with interest to be paid back to the treasury. The financial bailouts have been paid back and much of the car bailouts have been paid back.

The Obama modifications to the budget— which you ignore— after he came to office DO NOT require payback.

Solyndra and other recipients of the Obama stimulii do not have to payback their government payoffs.

This distinguishes the Bush bailouts in both principal and practice. In fact, the Obama administration has relished using the Bush payback system to further fund their crony capitalism.

This is an absolutely absurd debate. Obama has thrashed the fiscal processes of this federal government and he has had tremendous assistance from Harry Reid in the Senate in doing this.

Deflection won’t help your 0h0m0 defense. Everyone KNOWS that your 0kaka took office in Jan 2009. Everyone KNOWS that RATs in Congress were doing the spending BEFORE your 0p0s took office. Everyone KNOWS that you’re a troll that will go down BEFORE your 0b0z0 will be zotted on November 6.

Take the Trolley Bus and watch your derriere, which is not in Reggie’s “hands” as 0h0m0tallah’s!

But in 4 years, Obama has increased the national debt by almost as much as Bush increased it in 8 years.
##

You’re right. When it comes to spending and growing government Obama is Bush on steroids.

That counts TARP which he and the Dems pushed, the GOP Congress voted mostly “no”.

Compared to the Dems, the GOP are penny pinchers and need to get tighter.

You should change your name to Debbie Downer.

That makes no sense at all. A deficit is one years overspending of revenue. That then is added to the National Debt.

I’m a high paid accountant but I can’t see how you get from $160 billion deficit in one year adding $575 billion to the debt.

The only way you can is to play the same stupid budget game with numbers our politicians do. And if you do that then your entire argument (which seems to be the only thing you post about - spending and bashing the GOP) is moot.

In reality we have over $100 trillion in debt when you consider future unfunded liabilites.

Let’s not argue the point from the politicians point of view. And frankly, all the numbers the GAO or CBO, etc. put out are crap anyway.

Taxes were not “lowered”, tax rates were. Learn the difference.

Lower tax rates create more taxable income and more revenue and is proven since Coolidge, Kennedy, Reagan and GW Bush.

Good point. And to those who say this was based on Bush’s budget: wrong. It may have started out as Bush’s budget but Obama signed the stimulus pkg into law in February of ‘09, adding $787 Billion to the budget. If you figure in the interest cost on that money, it easily reaches 800 Bil. by the end of the 08-09 fiscal year. So, the author has basically tacked on almost a trillion dollars to Bush’s tab. To be sure, Bush was not a model of fiscal discipline, but Obama makes him look thrifty.

Heck, isn’t that lesson even in the Bible?

Besides, even the CBO (useless organization) says increasing tax rates on upper incomes would bring in maybe $180 billion more a year (if you use stupid static analysis that only morons use) and that is nothing when the spending is out of control.

You sound like a stupid Dem that proposes a “balanced approach” of $10 in spending cuts and $1 in tax increases. Why? Why not just make $9 in cuts? It’s the same.

And, of course, history proves with the Dems that you get the tax increases first, fold them into the baseline budget and spend 110% of them and never “cut” anything since DC calls a “cut” a decrease in the increase and they lie.

Go back to DU.

Actually, CBO priced out the stimulus at $862 Billion by Jan. 2010:

Stimulus price tag soars; jobless rate rises

By Stephen Dinan-The Washington Times Wednesday, January 27,

The economic stimulus bill’s price tag has risen to $862 billion, the Congressional Budget Office said Tuesday — a $75 billion jump that’s a result in part to the fact that, despite the spending, joblessness has risen and the government is paying out more than expected on unemployment benefits.
