Just before you walk out the door, stop by the office of your boss and say, “I was afraid until now to tell you this, but we run the biggest heroin dealership on the west coast from here.”

I'm one of the hated "Public Employees"

You sound like a government hack punk.

Can I be blunt?

You're the next shoe to drop...You'll be strafed by those coddling you at tax payer expense. Ya see, the middle class private sector has already been gang raped by you people in government..And they are broke....You're next.

Bet the rent.

Eventually, your fat government paid monthly check, will be no where to be seen.

I did. Some are parasites. Some are diligent. The diligent ones maintain function and continuity. Small government is a very good thing; no government is lawlessness and chaos.

Haven’t seen you in a while. Glad to see you back.

As someone has been working from 4 am to 12 am..

I’d sleep in on my first day of retirement..

Get a photo of the sunset. No one would be the wiser ;)

I also didn’t state that I was a STATE employee...(I’m NOT)

I’ve paid 1/2 my retirement and all my taxes.

I’ve also not sold back any vacation or sick leave, all that goes to pay for my medical ins. My wife has to pay for her own with her job also.

Peter Rabbit said, “If you can’t say something good don’t say nothin’ at all.”

We’ll keep working to provide your security and hedge against inflation. Most of us will just work until we die taking care of your retirement and benefits. Many of that number will be earning less working than you do not working.

Have a nice time.

I retired 9 years ago, and have enjoyed it greatly. I’m a female, and raised two sons by myself. I worked 25 years in uniform for the State of New York Department of Correctional Services. It provided me with a better salary and benefits than I had previously earned as an office worker. I hope you have a long and happy retirement.

I hope you enjoy your retirement.

I’m happy if anyone gets to enjoy it. I fully expect to have to work until I drop in the harness, that is if I am lucky enough to actually have work going forward.

Many conservatives don’t harbor angst against public employees simply because they ARE public employees, they are angry because they feel that there are a lot more of them than are necessary, IMO.

That said...congratulations. Enjoy it.

I retired 9 years ago, for government.

You will be reduced to nothing.

You and the millions of government workers who think they deserve to be supported by the tax payers, until death, will be laid to waste...No more money for you.

Government has gang raped private sector America....You're next. Bet the rent.

I am 55, retirement is the last thing on my mind, being a blue collar worker at a family owned business for the last 18 years without insurance, sick pay or health plans I don’t have anything to fall back on, no 401k or anything else, its the only good job near where I live, I cannot move anymore because this is Alaska, my final stop.

I will keep on working driving truck as long as my eyes and my heart is good, its touch and go just getting my medical card because my blood pressure is to high, but I manage to avaoid the DOT inspections and I keep on driving.

I just had stomache flue and lost three days, no sick pay, not for my company, but my company will help me when the times are tough, when almost no orders come in they still keep me on the payroll, at times they have owed me over $5k in back wages, but I tell them they can pay when the money comes in, a big company may not do that.

When I retire I may get into doing serious techno thriller novels, many are interested in my short stories, but while I drive the roads I don’t fall easily into the chapter captivation to text mode. Gotta keep the mind and spirit with the big rig, especially in Alaska.

No, you don't own Randy ~ he did his job, he knew the risks, and now he's retiring.

Randy, we actually have some punks on here who sometimes jump out of their chairs and start screaming that my criticism of government bosses shows a lack of loyalty.

May I assure you that if that happens those folks were never anybody's boss anywhere, public or private.

So, finally, after all those years you get to be critical ~ so do it.

I was just having a little fun at your expense - but I will say the odds are against the folks you leave behind being “competent, diligent and conscientious.”

Yes, your worked for the most poorly run state in all 57 states..

Is that your fault? No. I am sure you did the best job you could for them regardless of who was running the state.

It’s like blaming the gal at the counter of a CFA for the words spoken by it’s CEO.. Only idiot libs do that.

Congrats on a job well done.

Hopefully the checks keep coming and don’t bounce.

I retired 5 years ago tomorrow. Retirement is defiantly under rated.

Sorry you’re so bitter...

Too bad YOU don’t pay my bills so you could get a taste of what I will deal with in coming years.

BTW, life is full of options, especially here in the USA! If you chose the wrong path, that sux for you, but I don’t feel bad because I chose a path over thirty years ago that MAY work for me.

Your problems are of your making, I’m just living my life.

Don’t like it...TS.

“When I retire I may get into doing serious techno thriller novels, many are interested in my short stories, but while I drive the roads I don’t fall easily into the chapter captivation to text mode. Gotta keep the mind and spirit with the big rig, especially in Alaska.”

You might want to try a small cassette recorder, and basically narrate the story out loud; think out loud. Don’t be self conscious, just think of your concept and speak the events as they unfold in your mind. Some people have this ability and some don’t, but I know a couple of people who do this for their rough drafts, and are often surprised at what they spoke when they listen to it later.

If you get the knack of this it can be very helpful. Good luck with your writing aspirations and your work.
