Actually, I think the uneducated masses won't watch the debates, but they will pay attention to the ads. I don't watch huge amounts of tv, but it seems there are a lot of negative Obama ads and few, if any, Romney ads. If Romney doesn't get himself out there to refute those ads and put out more of his own, he might not be able to pick up momentum with the debates or after. It will be too little, too late.

I agree with you that most of the 47% will not watch the debates. However, there are two groups who will likely be watching the debates fervently.
Blacks and conservatives. My feelers, in other chatlines, tell me that blacks are very much engaged this season and they are paying attention, and not just because of the usual reasons for their participation.
