George Dalmon, a former rugby player, and his friend Andy Miles were banned from all-you-can-eat restaurant, Gobi, In Brighton, after the manager branded them "a couple of pigs".

The men would each eat five bowls of stir-fry during their regular meals at the Mongolian barbecue, which invites guests to create their own dishes from the buffet.

Recently went to one in Virginia. Absolutely awful. Literally nothing edible. First and last time time I'll ever go to one.

back in my youthful (and poor) hippie days I had a friend that loved to go....went several times with him..he’d stuff himself and then purge and go back for more...I could never understand it....id stuff myself too but I was happy with the deal....his happiness with the meal was “getting over” on the restaurant..I could never understand that thinking....Guess that’s why I’m a living conservative today....and he’s dead democrat via a drug overdose...

Not sure if I have all the details right, but before he joined The NFL, supposedly all the HoJo’s in SC had a picture of William “The Refrigerator” Perry posted at their locations, titled DO NOT SEAT THIS MAN ON “ALL YOU CAN EAT” NIGHTS.

Only takes a few like them to ruin it for everyone.

Hey, it's either eat-all-you-can or it isn't.

One day I was at the local Chinese buffet at dinnertime. Dinner was $2 more, as it included King Crab Legs. Two fatties came in, ordered water, and proceeded to eat nothing but Crab’s Legs. They went back at least 10 times whilst I was there. I was offended,,,, and embarrassed!

In Chris Miller’s book collecting up the original tales of the “Animal House”, he says his fraternity brothers used to go for the fine buffet, gorge themselves, puke in the bathroom, then have seconds and thirds.

“Booting” as the Romans did.

The three biggies that America was encouraged to never discuss ... sex, religion and politics are JUST what we SHOULD have been discussing.

Didja' read today's newspaper?

I rest my case

Back around 1986 or 1987, high school kids from the Yokosuka Base were banned from the local Shakey's because they liked to take advantage of the tabehodai (all you could eat) lunch pizza.

One kid would buy, eat for a while, his friend would come in, take the plate up for more, the first kid leaves, second kid pigs out, third kid shows up...They weren't even very sneaky about it because they knew the Japanese staff would be reluctant to confront noisy aggressive American kids.

There was a lot of whining about it, but they changed the rule to no teenagers unless accompanied by an adult, and that solved most of the problem.

I've witnessed similar occurrences. It is rather disgusting. I once saw an enormous man in soiled work clothes in a restaurant restroom. He came out of a stall and walked straight out the door without a stop at the wash station. Upon exiting the restroom, I observed him loading a plate at the buffet. I've never eaten at a buffet since that day, and never will again!

Last week I was out with some relatives for dinner.

We were done with the meal and I had paid the bill with a CC.

The waitress saw what I had given her for a tip and quietly thanked me when she caught my eye.

We stayed quite a bit longer and talked and when we got up to leave, I threw a few more dollars on the table, even though the restaurant was empty, but not closed.

My much younger cousin (actually, he's my 4th cousin) asked why I put more money down after I had already tipped her. Tommy is about 18, but doesn't have any real world experience, because of health issues. I decided to take the opportunity to teach him some proper restaurant edicate.

First , was why I left more. We stayed "longer" than normal, occupying her table. If the restaurant was busy and we were sitting there, she couldn't make any more tips. She lives off of her tips.

Second, ALWAYS leave a good tip. If you can't AFFORD to leave a good tip, you CAN'T AFFORD to eat out.

Third, leaving a good tip might just be a blessing they might need. Whether its financial or maybe it'll just brighten their day.

Lastly, they'll remember you. Maybe not the first time or the second, but the third or fouth time, they will. With that, you will almost always have stellar service.

Going to a restaurant is a mutual admiration society. The customer admires the servers service. And the server admires the costumers tips. As long as each continues to admire the other, everybody is happy.

Tommy noticed the waitress once again thanking me as we left. If he learned nothing else, he learned about respecting others and bring a small amount of joy into another persons life.

That was my first thought. Would have used them in a TV promotion. For every guy like one of these two, there are a lot of women who won’t even finish the plate they served themselves. It is true, I think, about the sorry state of Brit enterprise.

you’re supposed to tip at sizzler?

Don't you get the hint, the little tray with mints and, often, a comment card to return.
