One thing you might think of is to utilize a forwarding service. I use pobox.com as a forwarder for my email. Basically, it works like this: you'd have an address like zeugma@pobox.com. At Pobox, you tell it what your 'real' email address is behind it, and all email that hits your pobox is forwarded to your 'real' address. That way, if you change ISPs, email providers, or whatever, you never have to change the email address you give out. You'd just repoint where mail goes to at pobox.com. I've had the same email address for over 15 years now (probably closer to 20 now that I think about it), and have moved several times, changing who actually hosts my email several times, but have never had to send out updates to my email. At the moment, I haven't the foggiest idea what my 'real' email address is. You'll be impressed with their spam filtering as well. As I've had the same address for so long, I get spam from everyone on the planet. It is extraordinary when one actually slips through to me.
BTW, I have nothing to do with pobox.com but can recommend them based on my personal experience. Other companies do the same thing and probably work as well or better, but I wouldn't be able to comment on that.
Thanks and bump for later. I am also a lazy AOL user. I tried using comcast when I got on their internet service but couldn’t stand it.
Of course with your forwarding service people STILL would see my aol account and think I’m an idiot. Or worse - a liberal! But could still get the new email address out there but not worry if folks are still using the old one.
Thanks!
