And we will. :-)
Great comment. I totally agree. He’s been on unsteady ground ever since that monstrosity passed. In fact, since then, the only political victory he’s achieved is the supreme court decision to not over turn Obamacare. He got slammed in the midterms, the Wisconsin thing blew up on him, and, most telling, not a single Democrat supported any of his budgets (this, by the way, is one of the most under-reported stories of his term).
Obama’s idea of fixing the economy was to pass ‘stimulous’ and increase social spending. Amazingly, he still doesn’t understand why the economy hasn’t got going even after throwing trillions of dollars down the drain.
It’s quite simple to me. Before people spend money, people first need to have confidence in the system. Trillion dollar deficits and unpaid for social programs such as Obamacare make us all weary and nervous about the stability of our government...hence the slow economy.
Prime Minister Angela Merkel of Germany tried to explain this to him on one of his first trips to Europe as President. She told him that the economy doesn’t need government money. The economy mostly needs confidence in the stability of the government and in him as a leader.
Obama didn’t buy the message and in my opinion never really understood the nuance and finese required to establish ‘confidence’ anyway. In the end he delivered money in the form of ‘stimulous’ and lavish spending but, never came close to delivering the confidence Americans needed to break open their wallets. This is why he fails and will continue to fail as prsident.
Maybe he didn’t listen to Angela Merkel because she’s a woman (ok, that was a cheap shot).
