First things first ~ white folks and Chinese are two branches of the same group. The Chinese split into two subgroups some time back (20,000 years ago or so), and one of those subgroups has extra roots on the molars.

My understanding is this fellow had those definitive extra roots.

50 million modern Japanese have them as well, and so do the Ainu up the coast of East Asia, and a bunch of Chinese in the middle of the country.

Caucasions don't have the extra roots.
