I am about to become a 2nd amendment sister. My boss has been telling me for about 2 years that I need to get my CCW. She is getting to the point that she is going to require us to carry if we are going to work for her.
I fired off over 50 rounds using a 22. I surprisingly did really well. I managed to have a tight pattern, inspite of a little detail of using a gun that was too big for my hands.
Next week I get to try several 9 mms to see which one fits my hand and I am the most comfortable shooting. Then all I have to do it purchase one and get the sight set for me.
notpoli: I just bought my very first gun on Halloween - a S&W .38 Bodyguard. I absolutely love it so far. I suppose I will love it even more when I go the range with my neighbor today to fire the sucker!!
If you have small hands, the Taurus Slim is a convenient size. My wife loves hers and it also fits in her purse while being large enough to give a soid grip. Some of the more savvy nature may have other ideas of brands/models, but it is a place to start for something of a manageable size.
