US voting includes no audit trail such as Israel, Spain, and a number of other countries insist upon. Both parties have allowed this, probably because crony capitalism is independent of parties. Without paper ballots that are tallied within a precinct, with representatives of all interested parties present during the count, and the protection of the paper ballots in case a recount is requested, there is no audit trail - no evidence for how people voted.
