It didn’t matter who our candidate was this year. We have reached the point where 50% of America now believes that it is morally acceptable to vote yourself other people’s property and that they are not responsible for their own decisions.
It’s time for us to reflect on where to go. Our beliefs no longer win national elections in America. It was bound to happen eventually I just didn’t think it would be 2012.

The following was written about the fall of the Athenian republic:

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largess from the public treasury.

From that moment on, the majority always votes for candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.

“The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations has been 200 years. These nations have progressed through this sequence: from bondage to spiritual faith, from spiritual faith to great courage, from courage to liberty, from liberty to abundance, from abundance to selfishness, from selfishness to complacency, from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependency, from dependency back again to bondage.”
