Big Valley and The High Chapparal were my favorites. High Chapparal because it was filmed almost entirely at Old Tucson Studios - a lot of outdoor filming. Also Cameron Mitchell really anchored a great cast plus many A list film directors made “guest” director episodes. Compare to some of the more well known series like Bonanza or Bat Masterson - High Chapparal had way more authentic costumes and stories. The headgear for Bonanza was really kind of lame - IMO
I was also a big The Cisco Kid fan. Leo Carillo who played Pancho was a local hero and a fine actor.
Also loved Daniel Boone and Cheyenne.
“Big Valley” had a terrific cast; Jared was my favorite character, because he was so nerdy. “High Chapparal” wasn’t on as often - there must have been fewer episodes in the archive.
I use Westerns for lots of moral lessons in my family. When Anoreth was little, she thought my father had been in the Civil War with John Wayne. “Granddad, do you still have the horse you rode in the war?”
