I have mild sleep apnea that’s due to an endocrine disease. When that gets fixed, away goes the sleep apnea.
Hmmm, ok, it is your body but don’t mess around with apnea. It has caused a huge rise in my blood pressure that now has to be treated with medication. There are devices that you can wear at night time that will help with apnea.

Complaining is a hobby for a lot of people regardless of political views.
Can't you say it mildly? That there are choices--high risk, high reward, or safe government career. Once you make them, man up. If you're angry when you say it, of course they'll be upset. If you're matter of fact about it... who knows? They might concede the point, and go back to bitching about it later, after you're gone.
Would your tagline be referring to following quote?

I have had co-corkers with that attitude, but they never last long.They never stop coveting what others have, and almost always cause dissension and drama in every workplace.
I myself purposely chose lower wages and stable hours, in order to raise my child.And it was my choice.
Prior to having a child, I was not so “risk aversive”.
I know of many fine teachers and government workers in different jobs who do not have that loathesome attitude.
I do believe it is one of the ennumerated sins proscribed by the ten commandments. Whether one is a Jew, Christian, or just a person with a civilised moral code, its a good rule of thumb to follow.
I buy my weekly lotto ticket, and look around at things I might have if I were wealthy. But I also think about how that wealth will make me a target for thieves and scam artists, should I be “lucky” enough to win.
The gates, barbed wire and guards wealthy people use are to keep people exactly like your “friends” away.
Don’t kid yourself.
If the SHTF, they will join, if not lead the mobs in looting.

There is the mistake in your thinking:
Democrats/Liberals/Left-Wingers/Progressives/Socialists/Communists and Totalitarians are not your friends.
They are your ENEMIES, period. Get them out of your life immediately.
I left behind this kind of “friends” long time ago. I still have to deal with some relative here-and-there, who thinks about themselves that they are so enlightened, smart, and sophisticated.... Periodically, I shatter their Lefty glass bubble. It is not fun, but I take it as a necessary thing to do.
Any person who makes you to hold your honest thoughts back is not a friend. Period. Drop them all, and find some real friends instead. They exist, and waiting to meet you for the same reasons.

Clinical workers who serve at the VA are not “lifelong looting slackers.” And no, they are not paid outrageous salaries...that’s for the big shots in DC. The MAJORTIY of these clinical workers work very hard under stressful conditions.
Clerical workers who manage the social Security system,etc are also not ‘slackers.”
Government is too big and there ARE slackers who do not produce or serve a useful function..but my city garbage collector is also not one of those.
I hear ya, most of my wife’s friends are really good cooks... yet they’ll be voting Dem into the next century.
