My favorite is the original
“Vacation”

I remember my Mother thought “The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming” was extremely funny. I later saw it and thought it was OK but still can’t figure why Mother loved it so much.

I just remembered: “Young Frankenstein”

Also forgot about “The Gods Must Be Crazy” until I saw it mentioned. It was one of the few to make me laugh when I didn’t even want to.

My Mom’s FAVORITE movie of all time was “The Russians Are Coming”.

Having grown up on Cape Cod during the Coild War greatly increases one’s enjoyment of this very quirky movie.

Because it was funny! "Please to remove from street." Alan Arkin and Carl Reiner were hilarious. And maybe your mom had lived in a small town of that era. Little towns really do have their Muriel Evanses who call the cops over any little thing!
