If they were to survive they would sue him into bankruptcy.

If that's why he executed them then the law up there needs to be changed to prevent civil action after a self defense shooting.

True. Unfortunately the laws we have seem to protect the perps instead of the victims.

Which is exactly what happened in the Briney Trapgun case. A farmer in rural SE Iowa had an unoccupied home on his property that had been broken into several times.
He set a shotgun to go off when the front door was kicked in. It was and the gun went off, injuring the burglar. Burglar sued and won the farm and the unoccupied house.
