Remember the puzzled looks when they first appeared in the early ‘80s. You might remember it Joe, they where an exotic fad until we all became used to them.
Croissants, those rolls you eat at breakfast while you do crossword puzzles. I was told that croissant was French slang for crossword until banned by the French word police for sounding too American. Kinda like a Berliner with out the jelly. You can eat a Berliner while doing a crossword but there is no other connection. I don’t thing crosswords are popular in Germany because most of there words are to long to fit easily.
