I got my first batch of home made beer bottled last night. Another week or 2 to carbonate and I’ll be all done.

She’s welcome to gaze upon Linus and Lucy, the local squirrels who raid my bird feeder several times a week. Even when I put peanuts out there in a different spot for them and the blue jays.

All three of my cats and the dog love to watch blue jays at both bird feeders on the deck-likely because they are so screechy, dart around and squabble-they sit transfixed in front of the french doors every time a two or more of them are out there...

She is a cat who happens to be a midget. She is also a scaredy cat who is terrified of practically everything-maybe because she is so little-so overcoming the fear of squirrels is a major accomplishment for her...

Well, I bottled it last night and it tasted like (flat) beer, so that’s good. You add some more sugar to each bottle and let it carbonate for a week or two. Then you’re good to go. Optional is letting it “condition” for some more time in the cellar.

In season, you can get apple stuff and make your own hard cider.

August and September are apple season here-there are apple orchards all over this part of the hill country, and a big apple festival is held every year in a village 25 miles from here. I wonder if they would have the stuff to make hard cider at the farmers’ market there?

Texan5, check out the home brewing/ wine making thread that comes out every Friday. It is posted by Red_Devil 232. They have been discussing hard cider for the last few weeks and are very helpful on all things home made. You can check Red_Devil 232 for old threads if you want to get caught up.

I need you to summarize the ND football players girlfriend story for me and tell me what to think about it. I just know there is a brouhaha but don’t know anything.

Dude apparently had a “girlfriend” that he omly knew online. She died tragically and gave him inspiration and a sob story for a Heisman campaign.

Girlfriend never existed.

He claims he was unaware and was victimized.

What to think?

“I’m glad hockey is starting.”

Though this ****bag Obama continues to spit upon the Constitution and the People, I have found myself to be quite sang froid about the matter. Like an abused prisoner getting his daily beating, it’s just another day imprisoned.

You need a sterile vessal for fermenting, that lets the gas escape.

The rest is just something with sugar in it and the right yeast.

Thanks, guys-I’ve made wine successfully in the past, even from cactus fruits, but never tried cider.
