In what is sure to be a complete non-starter with the Obama administration, WSJ reports that Paul Ryan said that "Republicans are discussing whether to support a short-term increase in the nation's borrowing authority, possibly linking the debt ceiling to future talks aimed at reaching a major deficit deal...."Mr. Ryan wouldn't say what he meant by a temporary debt-ceiling increase, declining to give a specific increase figure or timeframe for an extension."

yep, another cave.
“Temporary”?? is that some kind of sick joke??
Terrible idea. This proposal does nothing but signal to the Obama administration that the Republicans (1) understand that actually hitting the debt ceiling and defaulting would be a disaster, and (2) are willing to increase the debt ceiling, even if only for a short-time, without corresponding spending cuts. In other words, this tells Obama that the GOP is willing to fold. If they’re willing to fold for a short-time fix, it’s only a matter of time before they fold completely.
Then again, maybe that's a good thing...

Geeezzz
Either do it, or don’t do it. There’s nothing in between yes, and no.
Obama needs a lesson message. That simply means he has to lose, and then lose again, and again. Put the man on a losing streak. It’s the only way.
The GOP has graduated from being the “Stupid Party” to the “Our Voters Are Stupid” party.
Slouching towards Argentina
They consider everything.... these stories are stupid.
“Writers” looking for attention.
Give Bozo money for 90 days with the stipulation that the Senate will present a budget to Congress on day 80. If nothing is done, on day 90, spending will return to 2006 levels.
Then every day the republicans should run ads about how the Senate democrats are forcing the debt onto our grandchildren and cutting back is the only way we can be saved.
Someone in the GOP needs to either get a set of cajones or hire an ad firm that does.
The Reps always find a way to postpone the fight. They are gutless. Both parties are hooked on spending. There will be no real cuts.
I looked up Republican in the dictionary and this is what I got: “Cheap, folding lawn chairs”.
OK, the situation is too important to have a prolonged fight on the fiscal cliff, but we promise to fight on the debt ceiling.
Well, the debt ceiling is too important to risk delay raising it with a budget fight, but we really will fight when the 2014 budget is proposed.
I feel like I'm watching two-hundred-some General McClellans telling Lincoln why he can't fight this month but is preparing for the big battle soon.
Another Republican cave! Not surpised. Crybaby fake tan Boehner and the rest of them are useless pieces of shit. We have been betrayed by all sides. The Republicans serve the same NWO masters as the Democrats and have been bought and paid for.
I advise them to not do it....
