Such anomalies vanish entirely when I turn the computer off or should I phrase it, when I
turn off the computer (and, of course, keep it off or perhaps keep off it).

Not that it would be any different but as double-blind redundant test (from the redundancy department), the same truncation behavior is noted in
curl v7.28.1 as well:

I have tried it on 4 different computers and they are all alike and are all on dial-up.I have a new super duper quad core computer with high speed internet a gillion megawats of ram and I have the same problem,

It did this not to long ago. It was some type of reset on the server. It was fixed the same day I saw it.

Same here - I’m only getting about a dozen stories from the main forum page.
Ironically, this thread is the last I can see, at the bottom of however much of the page I can get.
