Bob Bailey, Roy Rowan (announcer), Les Crutchfield (writer), Jack Johnstone (producer, director), Virginia Gregg, Gloria Blondell, Byron Kane, Peter Leeds, Amerigo Moreno (music supervisor), Lucille Meredith, Alma Lawton, Howard McNear, Harry Bartell. 15:07. Audio condition: Very good to excellent. Complete.

7:30 PM Dragnet. January 25, 1951. Program #85. NBC net. "The Big Tomato". Sponsored by: Fatima. A high school boy named Kenneth Morrow is killed in an auto accident. He had been using marijuana! Friday and the cops track down "The Big Tomato." The editors of "Motion Picture Daily" and "Fame" magazine name Jack Webb, "the most promising star of tomorrow" and Dragnet "the best radio program of its type" for 1950. Jack Webb, Barton Yarborough. 29:39. Audio condition: Very good to excellent. Complete.

8 PM Gunsmoke. May 8, 1954. CBS net. "The Constable". Sustaining. When a trail boss objects to Marshal Dillon's peacekeeping methods, and the town's merchants ask him to ease off, Dillon vows to make no further arrests. The town then hires an unusual "constable" to keep the peace. The script was used on the program again on March 20, 1960 (see cat. #62625) and on the Gunsmoke television series on May 30, 1959. William Conrad, Parley Baer, Howard McNear, Jack Kruschen, Vic Perrin, George Walsh (announcer), John Dehner, Joseph Kearns, Fred MacKaye, John Meston (writer), Rex Koury (composer, conductor), Norman Macdonnell (director), Georgia Ellis, John Meston (writer). 24:39. A boycott of the Madison High School cafeteria is being planned by the students. Eve Arden wins an award from Radio Mirror Magazine on the air. 9 PM Melody Ranch. September 6, 1953. Program #212. CBS net origination, AFRS rebroadcast. "Double Poison". Gene foils a plot to poison all the cattle in the valley. Gene Autry, The Cass County Boys, Pat Buttram. 1/2 hour. Audio condition: Excellent. Complete.

9:30 PM Boston Blackie. August 13, 1946. Program #70. ABC net origination, Ziv syndication. Sponsored by: Champagne Velvet Beer (of Indiana). Momma and Poppa Adams are in reality diamond smugglers and perhaps poisoners. Richard Kollmar, Lesley Woods, Maurice Tarplin. 29:48. Audio condition: Very good to excellent. Otherwise complete.

10 PM The Lux Radio Theatre. March 6, 1944. CBS net. "The Letter". Sponsored by: Lux. Love, deceit, murder and treachery in colonial England's outposts. Possibly a rehearsal, the program closing has been deleted after the cast credits. The story was used on The Lux Radio Theatre previously on May 23, 1938 and April 21, 1941 (see cat. #40719). See cat. #93477 for a rehearsal recording of this broadcast. Bette Davis, Herbert Marshall, Vincent Price, Cecil B. Hi, Vision! I had to run to Walmart after I posted the synopses, and I just got back. Not much happening here, just housework and laundry. I haven’t decided what to do for dinner. Maybe chicken or hamburgers on the grill.
