If these 64 schools are really, really smart, they will ditch the NCAA and start their own governing body.

I’m no fan of the NCAA, but I actually see the NCAA increasing their power by taking over I-A college football’s postseason. If the schools try to leave the NCAA, the NCAA can threaten their other sports. For example Kansas which will be in the superconference of the Big-12 isn’t going to give up their basketball revenue so that Texas and Oklahoma can get more football money. Same thing in the SEC with Kentucky. The Big-12 and SEC would also lose Kansas and Kentucky’s revenue from the basketball tournament. I wouldn’t mind the NCAA taking over the post-season in football and destroying the power of the old extortionists in checkered blazers known as the bowl committees. The bowl games can disappear to the ash heap of history where they belong. Let’s face it, the college basketball postseason is infinitely superior to college football’s postseason.
