A double “boom” will be caused by something supersonic - e.g., a meteor or a high performance fighter. As an old flight test type, we still do supersonic flights over designated areas in the country during acceptance and repair testing. Perhaps not normal wx patterns (temp distributions/etc) in the area allowed the sounds to travel further than normal...be amplified....etc.
If it’s a single boom, it’s created by something else...perhaps portions of the universe collapsing due to liberal imbecility.

Story is a retread from earthfiles.com, Linda Moulton Howe’s website. She’s a regular contributor to Coast to Coast AM radio. UFO sightings, Shadow people, secret underground NAZI UFO bases, etc.

Military Jets. Get them all the time here, along with fly bys from warthogs. Just had 2 f117’s come by an hour ago.

Some of these, I believe, are what we used to call years ago, jet jockeys hooking it up.
Not all, but some.

Same thing happened in Clintonville, Wisconsin. Was “solved” as mini earthquakes.

Not to worry. It’s just people following our vice president’s advice and shooting their shotguns into the air.

Interesting.
I’ve experience a few such unexplained booms and/or shaking over the last 40 years. There never seems to be an explanation.

Skyquakes, so called, have been going on since forever.
Those interested in the peculiar phenomenon, the cause of which remains unknown, should take a look at the books of John Keel, especially “Disneyland of the Gods”.

We hear large, earth-rattling booms in our area over much of the year. It’s proceeded by large, ominous, dark clouds and bright flashes of light across the sky. I think they call the big booms “thunder”.

This is the New Madrid fault area... and mysterious booms like this are not uncommonly heard before an earthquake hits. So maybe that is an explanation, time will tell.
