Growing up on the farm, we would shoot them on sight. We all carried a 20ga w/#4 shot on the tractor, combine or truck.

We never ate them...it never occurred to us to consider such.

We considered them vermin and they were Wiley to shoot. Once they saw the gun, they would bolt.

If one is keeping vermin off crops...no problem with that.

I live in a rural area. We do what we have to do.

That said, when I was a kid, I did kill for fun for a short time...much guilt/shame about that.

I grew up on a farm too. If I didn’t have a shotgun, the crows would stay put. If I had the shotgun, they would see it and take off before I was in range.
