When climate turned the vines were pulled up as grapes no longer ripened

Wasnt until the later part of 20th cent that England is
warm enough for grapes to grow again

Actually I think England still isn’t warm enough to grow the types of grapes they grew back in the MWP or the Roman Warming Period.

I believe the grapes they grow now are varieties that are genetically engineered or crossbread with American grapes which are much more cold hardly than the European varieties.

The little ice age shifted alcohol production in northern Europe away from grapes/wine to beer via grains.

We are thankful to this day.
