If you buy bagged topsoil be aware that it’s most likely full of weed seeds. Most of them will be annoying but harmless, but dad used bagged topsoil in the front garden and we ended up with poison ivy amongst the strawberries!!!

I’m not getting top soil with weeds because I cannot bend over and pull weeds and refuse to do it and kill myself, wouldn’t be able to walk the next day or the day after that. I’m not kidding, I cannot do that and that’s where I draw the line. Thanks for telling me that ‘cause I’m not doing it.
If I have to buy the good potting soil and use only that on top of that ground cover to grow plants, then that’s what I’ll do.
