With everything going on in this world, I feel like I am on the Titanic with Obama at the helm. So I thought, since it is inevitable that we are going to hit the ice berg and sink, we might as well discuss something very subjective, will provoke thought and take our minds off the fact there aren't enough life rafts.

I don't have a top 10, but I will add the first one to the group.

1- Secretariat winning the Belmont Stakes.

I left for the summer a missed playing on my inter church league on year. I got back in time for the last game. I got up to bat once and hit a double. I set out the rest of the game so I would have a prefect batting average for the season.

I was Batting 1000 .

Christian Laetner’s buzzer beater.

Clearly should be on the list, not only for that one moment, but for the game it ended, the programs involved, the players involved, the coaches involved, the announcers involved - and that it led to a Duke dynasty that would not have existed without the shot.

And BTW, when in history was Kentucky the "fuzzy little underdog" ever? NEVER, except this one game.

In Canada and Russia: Paul Henderson’s goal with 30-odd seconds remaining to give Canada the win in an eight-game series with the Soviet Union. He saved the free world.

Best fight ever in Canada: Archie Moore knocking out Yvon Durelle after he was flattened something like five times in the early rounds.

I second Mazeroski. What made that World Series so exciting was that the Yanks were a powerhouse who clobbered the upstart Pirates in three games. The Pirates squeaked out three wins and then the last game went back and forth like a ping pong match until Mazeroski stepped up.
