Hollywood’s Latest Bomb? ‘White House Down’ Struggling at the Box Office
Variety ^ | June 28, 2013

Less than a month after Will Smith’s “After Earth” crashed at the box office, Sony finds itself in another predicament with Roland Emmerich’s “White House Down.”

The $150 million action thriller, starring Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx, is the studio’s most expensive film of the summer but may debut as poorly as fourth place this weekend with a projected $27 million.

Not only are the early estimates soft for a project Sony bought in a record spec deal for $3 million in 2012, it’s actually worse than this year’s other White House thriller, “Olympus Has Fallen,” which opened to $30.8 million for FilmDistrict on a much smaller budget ($70 million).

Why aren’t the blacks out there supporting Jamie Foxx? Help a brother out, huh? It’s not like you’ve got tv on waiting for Jenteal to stutter out some little snarky jabs at the mean ol defense attorneys.

“Jamie Fox. That’s why I won’t pay money to see it.”

Me neither. Won’t even rent it in Red Box. Not sure I would even watch it on cable. I really can’t stand Fox.

The communists and Muslim Brotherhood took it over in 2009. Top that, Hollywood.

LOL!
Without firing a shot, or even the hint of a car backfire...

I do agree with you. I go to a movie to be entertained and I love films. I could give a crap about the politics of the actors.

I go to be entertained, too. But any movie set 100 years in the future, which dumps "rap music" on me in the fist five minutes, sets a negative tone with me, intentional or not.
I buy Blu Ray of every movie I like, but those are permanently banned. It's wonderful how we can each decide for ourselves whether we want to tolerate a "little" crap in the DVDs we buy.

“Jamie Foxx was outstanding in the movie. Who cares what his politics are. You go to a movie to enjoy it not worry about some politics.”

I’m sure you would have enjoyed Triumph of the Will. Leni Riefenstahl was a great talent. I personally couldn’t ignore the politics.

Dante’s Peak was awesome, and is still a favorite film of mine due largely to the fundamental explanation of vulcanology throughout the film. Volcano was an awful film, from start to finish.

I'm sick of PC, homosexual agenda or just plain old jabs at conservatives that seem to be in most movies to one degree or another.

That is true of TV series, too the last several years.
The latest in the pervert-driven propaganda vehicle is the Sci Fi series Defiance. The lesbian scenes were shown earlier (presumably that's more acceptable), but the recent scene of a (male) gay wedding did it for me. I don't care if the story is in the distant past, but in the future just smacks of propaganda.

Most movies these days are trash. I wanted to see Star Trek 2 and Iron Man 3 this summer, but couldn’t due to work. Have yet to see anything worth watching right now, but enthusiastically look forward to The Lone Ranger.

The people who write these stories, produce and direct the movies and the people who star in them do drugs. What do you expect?

It was the most anti-American, liberal, Marxist thing that I’ve ever paid money to go see. The entire show was accompanied by slideshows and video in the background that were anti-capitalist, anti-Israel, and anti-American. Near the end, they released into the air a huge inflatable pig that looked to be about the size of a small house. On one side it said “F*ck Bush” and on the other side it had the message “Vote Democrat” painted on it.

Sounds like Naps kind of movie.

I was extremely political, but I tried to insulate my entertainment from my politics.

The movie makers certainly don't try to separate their politics from movies, so why should the public? Of course some idiots could go wath a Soviet propaganda film and pronounce it the best flick they've ever seen.

That is why I won’t pay to enrich a celeb lib.
Jamie Foxx is forever linked to those statements. He’s right next to Jane Fonda.

I feel the same way about music too. I refuse to listen or purchase songs from those who have slammed and put forth their left-wing political views. Its my money and my choice and its getting harder and harder to ignore their obvious propaganda from music and the movies. I have better things to do with my money than support their perverted lifestyles.

“It has nothing to do with Obama. Gosh you guys think every black person is Barack Obama....lol.”

Sorry...but it’s about Odumbo. 2 of my buds worked on that set here in L.A. with the biggest global warming assholist since Al Gore in Roland Emmerich. They were chatting with Foxx during a break in the jet figter sequence and Emmerich chimed “make sure you have that grey hair like obama”.

And these 2 are closet conservatives. One of them is now working on Transformers 4 on another location. Channing Tatum however, was really a good guy on the set.

You apparently have no understanding of how hollyweird works and just HOW films get made.

Try seeking some information regarding conservative film makers/writers and then get back to us and tell us again how they ‘don’t have the ability to do so’.
