Melissa McCarthy In #2 ‘The Heat’ Fires Up Friday Box Office While #4 ‘White House Down’ Flops; ‘Monsters U’ Still Strong #1
. But Sony Pictures’ White House Down really disappointed in #4, opening a third less than Hollywood expected and ensuring its high cost will make it impossible to earn out. But the studio is still hoping for a 4x holiday-aided multiple. Both pics received ‘A-’ CinemaScores from audiences to help word of mouth. Neither Thursday late show/Friday midnight grosses were significant. Top

Too bad. I went today and it was fantastic. Struggling? It made 9 million on Friday alone. I guess people went to the Heat where every other word was the F word. Oh well. I loved White House Down. It has nothing to do with Obama. Gosh you guys think every black person is Barack Obama....lol.

Usually you figure that they put some of the best moments in the ads, based on that there wasn’t a thing I saw to make me part with money. I don’t think I’ll watch it on DVD either.

Ha! Let them push them rock that Obamacare baby and watch them fall even further!

I can’t even watch many older movies now because I can’t get past some actors politics of hate.

I’m tired of giving people money to abuse me.

They can twitter and call horrible names of the right, then I can refuse to support the loudmouth jackazzes.

Doesn’t having “Bomb” and “White House” in the same headline attract the attention of the NSA? :-)

A reality movie would show BHO in a burqa, of course. Not thinly veiled.

‘it’s actually worse than this year’s other White House thriller, “Olympus Has Fallen,” ‘

Boy was that a lame “Die Hard” copy. Did have lots of action to cover the plot holes though.

They should have held the release of this until ‘olympus’ had passed. The morons movies are made for- it wouldn’t have been a long wait.

People are tired of garbage dressed up in computer graphics: epic cinematography, but the stench remains.

Gee, a black president. Probably would have done better if they named it White House Git Down.

I do want to see "Monster U." "Monsters, Inc." was masterful, a really great movie.

Interestingly enough, I'm also looking forward to 2 other sequels.

RED 2: "Red" was incredible. Lots of action and John Malcovic was hilarious!

Despicable Me 2: The original is one of my favorite movies on "GruRay!" The Minions are the best! Can't wait for this one!

Unfortunately, due to physical issues, I really can't go see a movie at the theaters. It's been about 7 years since I've been to a theater. So I'll have to wait until they're released on DVD/BluRay.

Oh, and I'm waiting to see "The Hobbit" until the studio releases the extended edition this Christmas.

Mark

Ever notice how often Hollywood puts out two nearly identical movies during the summer?

We had two volcano movies (Dante’s Peak and Volcano), two comet/asteroid movies (Deep Impact and Armageddon), and now two “White House under siege” movies. There are many more examples of this over recent years.

It clearly indicates that Hollywood is out of original ideas (which certainly isn’t news to anyone who’s gone to the theater lately). It also indicates that the studios spy on each other and steal from each other on a regular basis.

I’d just like to see one movie where I don’t sit there thinking that I could have written a better script in five minutes.

Terrorists captured the White House? Really?

The communists and Muslim Brotherhood took it over in 2009. Top that, Hollywood.

I saw it tonight. The theater was about two thirds full.

The movie was fine. If you wish to suspend reality a little bit. Well, pretty much put reality out of your mind altogether.

Strictly a shoot’em up, right wing extremism terrorists getting back at the government. You know, what Hollywood thinks of US!

I know Jamie Foxx is not popular around here, but he was OK in this. Yes, clearly he was Obama. But he was not made into anything macho.

Overall, for a summer action movie it was OK. Not great, but OK.

World War Z was only marginally better.

I will NEVER EVER patronize another Jamie “Our lord and savior Barack Obama” and “I got to kill all the white people” Foxe film the rest of my days.

F**K him!
