This weekend I saw a commercial for Sam Adams beer that upset me. The commercial is called "Independence". It featers a guy ostensibly quoting the Declaration of Independence, except he deliberately omits a key phrase (just like Obama). Have you seen this commercial? Did you catch what was deliberately omitted?
I’m very miserly when it comes to my booze budget, and I’d rather buy a bottle of Captain or scotch and have a weekend of mixers than a 6 pack of microbrews for the same price and only get a night of drinking out of it.
Well said.
coudl get a petitition together and state if they are goign to htrow God out of the declaration of independence, then we are goign to htrow sam adams beer out of our homes- forever-
Good for you. My rant will follow your soon.
Excellent rant, and thanks for the link.
The anti-religionists are insane. Who do they believe bestowed those rights upon us, the government?

Um, I don’t really think anyone watching a beer commercial is really thinking about Who bestowed our natural rights on us. Who bestowed their Natural Lights? Well that’s a much more interesting question to a beer drinker.
I was going to mention that! Many SA drinkers like Yungling as well. Basically older guys like Yungling, younger folks go for SA because it has a yunzer stigma.
BTW My oldest son manages Beer World in Greentree near Pittsburgh. They carry everything but specialize in “upscale, craft brews.” As a sorta yunzer myself I can’t believe the price of some of the beer! A hundred or even more a case! I drink my crappy $15 per 30 can case and only drink the good stuff on special occasions.
That said when he sees the SA ad he’ll probably blow out on the rep and cut the order, at least for awhile.
In German, Budweiser translates as "Piss Wasser". Pretty sure.
No more Summer Ale for me. It's back to Stella Artois and Pilsner Urquell.
Called them directly at this number : phone: (617) 522-9080
Press “0” and ask for Customer Relations
I spoke to a guy named “Todd” who told me they were following guidelines of not using religion to promote sales of Alcoholic beverages and besides the commercial is only “30 seconds long and they had to trim something”
I informed him that God is Spiritual and not associated to any one religion and endowment spoken of in this key document did not specify anything more than the acknowledgement of God. Also told him it was curious that this was the part “trimmed” and he got defensive and went back to Advertising guidelines. Obviously a thinly veiled attempt to play the 4th of July message link while being PC.
He got squishy and kept trying to dodge the question and as I let him go I said “We all make decisions and you have helped me make one”
End of call
The story goes that Adolphus Busch (?) had the recipe for a Czech beer known as Budvar (Budejovich?) that bears a striking resemblance to Budweiser. You can buy the green-bottled Czech version and they taste almost identical.
I was under the impression that the Belgians buying out Anheuser-Busch was the Europeans getting back at the Busch family for stealing the recipe.
This is all second-hand, so don’t hold me to any of this.
Just emailed them that I’ve had my last SA product.
Ok, I won’t
It is the anti-religionists who dislike history and distort it. If your brand is tied to an important Patriot and Founder don’t distort the history he played a part in. Now if the brand was say, Coors, it would not be as offensive. (I did not say “not offensive”)
Bad news... Stella Artois has the same parent company.
I will never drink another Sam Adams.
Surly ‘Furious’ made in MN.
quite tasty.
FRiend,in my opinion, there are much better options:
And there's many more! :))))))))
1) If you can get one of them locally
2) If you’re motivated enough to go to a store that sells micros
WalMart is a 90 second walk from my front door and carries Sam Adams among other typical Americana beers. The nearest microbrew seller is 20-30 minutes away by car.
It’s a matter of motivation.
