What is it with bicyclists?
07-05-2013 | Me

Posted on 07/05/2013 12:11:47 PM PDT by Kevin in California

It's bad enough looking at these idiots in their colorful tight spandex garb and the stupid looking shoes they wear but are most bicyclists ignoramus's who think they own the road?

Here I am sitting at a red light and to the opposite side of the intersection, there are 7-8 bicyclists turning left to ultimately be in front of me. My light turns green and as I approach the cyclists, everyone one of them is darting in and out of their bike lane causing me to brake, then go, then brake, etc. to the point I couldn't go around them without going into the lane to my left that was congested with cars. A couple times I had to float over the middle line to avoid these dumbasses.

I'm not a cyclist but is it that hard to stay in a bike lane and/or are these just stupid liberal California cyclists?

“Same rules, same road” they’ll scream at you
*************************************
Had a moron pass me at a red light (no bike lane) , proceed to blow through the light and the NEXT light ... I crowded him close enough to the curb where he couldn’t pass me and asked him why he thinks he can ignore lights ,, just screamed at me ... I politely countered with the bicyclists own motto “share the road” ,, meaning for him to give ME room...

P.S. I have a Specialized city bike and like to ride , but jerks like that guy (and almost all of them ARE “that guy”) just encourage drivers to not give a damn.

Yup. . .and I think you meant to say, “But it’s now become nearly 11% black and over 21% ILLEGAL ALIEN Mexican”

So much for that “hiding in the shadows” thing all those amnesty types are spewing.

In San Francisco, we recently had a "bicyclist" ride downhill at near 45 in a 25, blow three stop signs and one red light, and kill an elderly pedestrian in the crosswalk.

Then he left the scene and posted on line that the pedestrian should have known better than to step out with him coming at that speed.

Yes, he is being prosecuted, but only because the pedestrian died.

NO NO NO!

Most cyclists aren’t liberal jerks, though there is a libertarian streak in many of them.

Libs try to co-opt bikes as savior s of the planet and other BS, and it makes the rest of us pretty angry.

Many cyclists are ardent supporters of the 2nd Amendment and are tired of jack-wad motorists threatening their lives because they are running ten minutes late.

These cyclists will defend themselves if you threaten their lives.

BTW, I do not own a firearm. I just use harsh language.

Please don’t do something stupid because of the inconvenience.

I don't know about CA, but in most states bicycles are considered vehicles and are covered by the vehicle code, which means they are entitled to a full lane if they choose to use it, even when there is a bike lane. What they are not entitled to do is ride 2 or 3 abreast (motorcyclists also frequently commit this violation) or break any other rules in the vehicle code.

Most motorists are unaware of this, but they have the same rights and have to obey the same laws as the driver of any other vehicle unless the road specifically posts that only motor vehicles are permitted. That includes indicating intention by pertinent signals: Left, right, and decelerating. [The signals to be used by cyclists are different from motorists and vary from state to state.] Riding on the berm is actually a violation; vehicles of any kind permitted on a road are not supposed to ride the berm, which is for emergency use.

I’ve seen people texting while bicycling as well. Running a stop sign and all. I’ve almost been run over by them while driving my car and while crossing an intersection on foot.

The lay terms for Narcissistic Personality Disorder are “Jerk” if you want to be polite, “A$$hole” if you don’t, and “F’ing A$$hole” if you dare to be accurate.

Self-righteous bicycle riders suffer from NPD. Any of them here on this forum who wants to dispute that can take a hike.

In Amsterdam, bicyclists have superior rights to a pedestrian.

Seen the same thing in Madistan WI where the US DOT has mandated bycycle routes in rural areas that run up road building expences and remove additional frontage from property lines on county roads. That can only be used during the summer season by a few pedalists but not 4 wheelers or bikers.

People don’t like it when others have the ability to get through traffic in a way they can’t.

Going slow in the bicycle lane congesting traffic at rush hour. Then when the cars are stopped at the light, the bicyclist rides past them, through the light, and the whole slow process is repeated.

“Please don’t do something stupid because of the inconvenience.”

Okay. Important safety tip.

You might want to add, for bicyclists, please don’t do something stupid like ride two-abreast on a two-lane road and block traffic.

In El Paso County Colorado, yes they do think they own the roads, and all of them. The road riders know darn good and well where the roads are that provide enough space for them without causing traffic hazards, but they just loooooooove to ride on the back roads without a shoulder.
They are super special individuals!

Can you import some of those polite riders to CO? Not only do they not line up single file and maintain their space when there is oncoming traffic and someone coming from behind, they will go 3 abreast. And inevitably they’ve brought a female or a beginner rider along with them who can’t keep up, so they all have to slow down for her.

Amen Brother!
Bicyclists seem to have a divine right to form wide ‘caravans’ in the lanes something that is forbidden for all vehicles/bicycles obeying the rules of the road.

Bicycling and driving are not group efforts.

It is easy to stay in a bike lane, but most bicyclists are arrogant sanctamonious jerks. I have ridden over 100K miles and cannot stand most riders for this very reason.

Indeed. The road narrowed for a construction zone in the middle. He was trapped riding against the curb as the semi edged over. Apparently the driver never saw him.

In Wyoming the rude California bicyclists often discover why we leave the snowplows on the front of our pickup trucks all-year long.
