Held the line? After capitulating to the point we are today, ‘backing’ the ‘common sense’ controls?

I chalk them up to the disease research, etc. IE: Nobody, and I mean nobody, would be giving penny ONE if they actually did what they laid out to do. In this case, have our Rights protected and the Constitution followed.

Might as well give kudos to the House GOP for only allowing the deficit to rise $800B instead of $1T. /s

I am an Endowment member. I only get a few letters a month that are disguised donations, no calls that I can recall and the American Rifleman Mag. I love the magazine. Their mailings to me are a waste of money.

BS. Gun rights have flourished over the past 30 tears thanks, in large part, to the NRA. I’m happy enough with the game they’ve played hence my willingness to purchase a lifetime membership.

Flourished? Go back 40-50 years. You might remember them. The time when you could order a gun through the Sears catalog? When schools had a rifle team, and practice on grounds. When a ‘Saturday night special’ was only ~$25.

Hey, I was only saying they were also the Judas in the midst with their ‘common sense’ capitulations. Whomever wishes to give out their own $$, I have NO say whatsoever.

You act like they’re the ones who wrote every anti-gun law you’re unhappy with. They aren’t. They’re regularly under enormous political pressure and, at times, they’re under insurmountable political pressure. That kind of insurmountable pressure is becoming increasingly prevalent yet I can still travel about freely with a .357 on my hip and there’s little chance that that will change any time soon. I can still purchase or sell an assault rifle privately or otherwise too which is pretty amazing considering the unprecedented political pressure levelled against the NRA, gun owners, our representatives, etc. The NRA got right out in front and led the charge into that battle and we won and I have no doubt that we won, in large part, thanks to their warcraft. To put it another way, there is NO other gun rights group in America that would have been anywhere near as succesful as the NRA had they been charged with holding the line. I couldn’t be more proud to be a member of the NRA.

And you seem to think you’re the one I’m bashing...geez.

You are correct in one part: I am unhappy with ALL anti-gun legislation :) AND, I AM unhappy with any/all that the NRA backed. That suit ya better? :P

Now, unless you live in one of the few Constitutional carry states, you cannot ‘freely’ travel w/ anything on your hip....w/out permission from the gov’t. You CAN still buy/sell to your hearts desire, again, what the gov’t allows you to own, or w/out a background ground if from Citizen to Citizen. I don’t call that being ‘good enough’.

Your proud, you put up your $$...congrats, I’m happy for ya. But, until, for me, they start pushing Constitutional carry, as per our RIGHTS, they get not one penny more from me than I have given them in the past.

you would throw out the baby and end up with the bath water. I take none of this personally btw. We’re just two FRiends talking about guns here afaic. Anyways, yeah, dirty bathwater and no baby-that’s what we’ll end up with, I fear, if we decide the NRA isn’t pure enough or whatever. And, FWIW, I wouldn’t want Trayvon Martin ordering a Glock from sears. Yeah, that was a code word btw.

Good to hear, me neither.

Back to task: IMHO, we already have the bathwater and baby on the way down. I will stand and demand an acknowledgment of my Rights, and will continue to carry *illegally* if/where/where I feel the want/need. There is only so many ways the courts can verify 1) Police have no obligation to prevent crime/protect Citizens 2) Nor do they have to respond (When seconds count...)

As in all things it seems with politics these days, what is clearly black/white is meant to be blurred into shades of gray. IMHO, proponents of the 2nd Amend would not consider ‘common sense gun control’, let alone support the same.
