I have twelve bookcases in my home.
Bookcases are important,
but a well used kitchen table, though immeasurable, is probably more important.
When I moved in, I had the carpenter cover all the LR walls with book shelves, and I still don’t have enough room for the books.
“I have twelve bookcases in my home.”
Wow! You must be a very smart person! I can’t match you but I do have my obligatory two book shelves. And, the night stands, couch end sands, coffee tables, etc, are full of books. However, I think this study is probably now obsolete. Neither my wife or I have bought a book in a couple of years as we now both have I-pads and only read e-books.
If I had only known I never would have sent the girls to college. The house was like a library when they were younger.
I’ve got 6 in the library/office area. My oldest daughter (11) has 4 in her room. I also have one in my bedroom, so we’ve only got 11 total in the house. Although, my younger two daughters share a room and have a nightstand (with books in it, should that count?). Essentially, we have thousands of books around the house.
But the most important one is the Holy Bible - and we’ve got several iterations/versions of that one.
LOL, now granted some of them are oooolddd, but I am OCD when it comes to an author I like, I have to go and try to find their entire booklist if I'm able to.
When my oldest grandson was 8 he had to write a story in school about his family. He and my daughter were living with me at the time and he chose to write about my daughter and I. One of the things in his story was that we had millions of books in our home and we would spend at least 150 hours a week with our nose in a book. He had a learning disability and never personally enjoyed reading but to this day loves to have someone read to him, even though he is now a very young adult. He always remembered everything that was read to him though and he and I used to read for at least two hours every evening.
We were underedjamacated. We only had 7 (very full) ones.
